Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Updates Its DLC Roadmap

Since its debut last September, the game has consistently received updates and new content, maintaining player engagement with exciting character reveals and gameplay enhancements.

Expanded Content and Character Additions

Sega is continuing its commitment to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds with an array of new content. Following a substantial update this week, the company has also provided an updated roadmap detailing future downloadable content. This includes the recent announcement of three additional free characters that will be joining the roster, further enriching the game's diverse lineup.

Mega Man, Ninja Turtles, and Avatar Join the Race

Players can anticipate the arrival of the paid Mega Man DLC in Q2 2026, which is confirmed for release next week. The three free DLC characters announced earlier this week will be introduced throughout April and May. Looking ahead to Q3 2026, fans can expect to see beloved characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar make their debut, alongside three more free racing characters, expanding the game's crossover appeal.

Demo Enhancements for Select Platforms

In conjunction with the DLC announcements, Sega has also rolled out an update for the game's demo on specific platforms. This complimentary update, which focuses on offline single-player experience, introduces Extreme Gear Machines, boosting the total machine count to 15. It's important to note that this particular demo update does not apply to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Understanding the Nintendo Switch Demo Status

While a game demo for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is listed on the eShop for the Switch 2, it currently offers the original Switch version, meaning players won't have access to the newly added Extreme Machines. Sega has indicated that if an updated demo for Nintendo's platforms becomes available, they will inform the community. For those who choose to purchase the full game after trying any demo version, their saved data will transfer, though Time Trial results will not be uploaded to the full version's leaderboard.
